Local Spotlight – Jazzercise, Rayleigh

This week Nick spoke to Nicola From Jazzercise, to find out a little bit more about her business, and why she feels Rayleigh is a great place to live, work and invest!

Nick: Hi Nicola, Can you give me a little introduction to your business?

Nicola: Jazzercise is a dance based exercise class that has been running in Rayleigh for over 20 years and has 8 classes a week to choose from with any ability welcome and ages 18 – 90. It is a class that has fun carido routines to the latest chart music with a strength section too to sculpt and tone

Nick: What made you start your business? i.e what is your story.

Nicola: I always danced growing up and missed it when I was an adult and a friend suggested trying out a class and I was instantly hooked. I loved it so much that when the instructor asked me if I was interested in becoming an instructor I jumped at the chance. I trained in Feb 2006 and have taught classed ever since. I’ve been teaching the classes in Rayleigh for the last 4 years and am now taking over the ownership of the classes in January 2020 due to the current owner moving away. I love interacting with the ladies in my classes and seeing their smiling faces, even when I’m putting them through their paces! And seeing them achieving their goals is amazing to watch, there’s nothing I’d rather do

Nick: What are your business plans for 2020?

Nicola: I’m hoping to build the classes and reach a wider audience

Nick: What part has the local community played in your business?

Nicola: For a lot of the ladies that have coming to Jazzercise for a long time they have made life long friends, they are always there for each other and have been through many life changes (up and down) together. A lot of them have coffee together after the classes at Mill Hall and are very welcoming to new comers

Nick lastly, what is it you love about Rayleigh? and why should people considering living, working or investing in the town?

Nicola: I’ve lived in Rayleigh for almost 20 years and still love the town, I love being close to the high street and being 45 minutes from London too, so it’s a great place for commuters but is also great for families because of the great schools. My son goes to Edward Francis and is thriving there

So there you have it! another business owner who feels Rayleigh is a great place to live, work AND invest!
